A LITTLE LOST

October 30, 2017

In a previous post, called “Shhhh! Genius At Work! (unearthing her GRACE)”, I wrote about my recent trip to the East Coast to see and hear Lizz Wright sing in Massachusetts. She was kicking off a tour to promote the release of her new CD called, “GRACE”.

( By the way, if you haven’t heard it yet, you’re missing out on a really good thing. You can find it on Amazon or iTunes.)

Anyway, in that post, I mentioned that while I was driving to the Rockport, Massachusetts venue, listening to “GRACE”, I was enjoying Lizz’s new music so much I missed my turn to Rockport and I suddenly saw a sign that said “Welcome To New Hampshire”.

So after I corrected my course and was heading toward Massachusetts again, I had to laugh and I thought to myself, “I get a little lost in her (Lizz), sometimes.”

I get in a kind of dreamy state of mind when I listen to her music. She is and will always be my favorite singer.

Then I thought that sounded like a good title for a song.

I get a little lost in you“, or “I get a little lost“, or something similar to that.

So, I have been thinking about that ever since then, and just two days ago I wrote the song.

But I decided to call it, simply, A Little Lost“. (The song is at the bottom of this post.)

“GRACE AT WORK”

October 10, 2017

Two weeks ago I published a post called, “Shhhh! Genius At Work! (unearthing her GRACE)”.

It is about Lizz Wright’s new CD, “GRACE“, which she recently shared with the world!

For this CD she chose to sing all covers, with the exception of the last song on the CD, a song called “All The Way Here”.

So I’ve been listening to “Grace”, repeatedly, since it came out. I never tire of listening to anything she sings. One of the reasons for that, is because Lizz always does things mindfully and purposely. I believe she doesn’t just pick songs to fill the space. She picks each one for a specific purpose and reason.

Blue Rose: The Mystery Revealed….

October 2, 2017

                                                             MORNING GLORY

Lizz wrote a song called Blue Rose, with Kenny Banks. It’s on her first CD, titled, “Salt”.

The lyrics are poetic and the song is beautiful and it got my attention right away. One time I heard Lizz mention, in an interview, that “morning glory” was her baby name that her parents called her.  Also she added a photo of a blue morning glory on her Facebook page a couple of times.

I was curious about the song so I studied the words to figure out what it means but I had as many questions as I had answers. So I google-ized (I know that’s not a word!!) anything related to blue rose and (blue) morning glory.

Seems I’m Never Tired Loving You

August 5, 2017

Don’t worry, Nina. She’s gotcha covered!!

That’s what I was thinking as I listened to Lizz Wright‘s newly released cover of Nina Simone‘s song called, “Seems I’m Never Tired Lovin’ You”, a song Lizz has included on her new CD, “Grace”, coming out on September 15.

(You can pre-order her CD on the Lizz Wright link above.)

If you’ve never heard of Nina Simone (shown above, in a picture I downloaded from Nina’s official website), or this song, click on the link below to hear Nina as she sang it years ago. She had a most unique and special talent.

……Seems I’m Never Tired Loving You…..

Then continue reading and listen to Lizz’s cover of the song.

Heartless In Seattle

June 14, 2017

It’s been almost three years now since I first heard Lizz singing on KIXI Radio in Seattle.

She was singing “Reaching For The Moon”, an Ella Fitzgerald song.

I was captured by the first few notes she uttered so perfectly, so pristinely, so passionately, like a beautiful songbird:

🎶 “The moon and you appear to be 🎶 so near and yet so far from me 🎶….”.

That’s when she stole my heart.

That’s when I became “heartless”.   😊
