If You Only Knew (How Much I Mean To You)

Scanners like to learn, discover and create. (At least, this scanner does.)

One day I decided I’d like to make my own CD, to include a front and back cover, the words, and the song. I had just written a song and that inspired me to make my own jacket for it.

All the other times I wrote a song, I would just put it on paper, enjoy it for a few days and then tuck it away in my song folder. But not this time.

“Lizz Wright: The Sweet Honey In The Rock”

My second post was about Lizz  Wright and her genius. At the bottom of the post I said, “Somehow you have hit a nerve in me. I love the essence of who I think you to be.”

When I read it back to myself, I immediately thought it should be a line in a song that I wanted to write about Lizz. That was my “cue”! That was about three weeks ago.

“A Shrimp Among Whales”

I was living in South Korea at the time and I worked as a Korean translator. To get better at the language, I immersed myself in the culture and customs.

I also made many trips to the Korean bookstores looking for dictionaries, books with short stories, magazines  similar to Reader’s Digest, music books, and bilingually published books. The English was on the left side and the Korean on the facing page. So I could quickly see how they would say things.
